As you might already know Hello Kitty is not only for kids.

She was created by the Japanese company “Sanrio” as a fictional character, designed by Yuko Shimizu.

Her first appearance on an item, was a vinyl coin purse, introduced in Japan in 1974 and brought to the United States in 1976. Hello Kitty line has since developed licensing arrangements worth more than $1 billion a year in sales.

And her image as a sweet kitty appears like dolls, stickers, greeting cards, on clothes, accessories, school supplies, dishes and home appliances, anime series for TV and video games. Also Hello Kitty with inspired songs, an official theme park, Sanrio Puroland, which opened in 1990 to the public. And hold on to your sits, because she has a jewelry line and she even has her own Hello Kitty Jet.

For 2010, Bank of America offers Hello Kitty themed checking accounts, where the account holder can get checks and a Visa Debit Card and Master Card with Kitty’s face on it.

In Asia, they released a limited edition of Hello Kitty credit cards too. For Gourmets there is a themed restaurant named Hello Kitty Sweets in Taipei, Taiwan where restaurant’s decor and many of its dishes are visually patterned after the Hello Kitty character.
