Sorbet and Pastel colors wear them

Summer 2012 is almost gone, but we have still this riddle to solve: Those Sorbet and Pastel colors, did  they came here to stay over for fall and winter too?

Preen S/S 2012

Sorbet colors have beautiful names, like petal pinks, soft violets, mild mint, tulip yellow, light lavender, baby blue, peach, watermelon, coral, and turquese. Wear these colors with lace, soft silks.

Phillip Lim S/S 2012

We are going to see accessories and even interior design use them profusely.

The sorbet color palette is lighter than the pastel color palette.

Remember that actually a sorbet is made out of water and fruit, mixed into an ice cream used as refreshment between courses . And I’m not talking about “Neon” colors because they are another different story that can be a whole theme for a future post.

🙂 Combine these colors freely, because they perfectly match all together. For fall and even winter, pair sorbet and pastel colors with black and grey, layered will look great.

The LVMH group, house of luxury brands we all are familiar with, embrace Yayoi Kusama, the dot artist.

Luis Vuitton opens an inspired dot season by Yayoi Kusama.

Well, even Minnie Mouse will be happy wearing this 🙂 (This is my honest opinion)

Visit also the Yayoi Kusama exhibition at the Whitney Museum

Bohemian-Hippie-Flower Power you name it

Call it the way you want, Hippie, Bohemian, Flower Power, Hobo, Boho, and wear it with floral printed materials, head bands, lots of necklaces,  rings, and jeans, but most important, feel free to use them all.

Bohemian, besides being peoples from the Bohemia zone in Europe,  refers also to an early 19th century movement characterized for its unconventional lifestyle. The Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood embraced this new way of life, believing in  expressing  freedom away from conventionality.  William and Jane Morris, Annie Miller, Elizabeth Siddle and Dante Gabriel Rossetti expressing in design and art with a liberated style.

Back in 1950 a hipster group of people was experimenting with a laid back style with colorful, psychedelic, patchwork clothing, sometimes ethnic inspired, incorporating American Indian designs and Afghan textiles.

This style reflected in the 60’s and 70’s Beatnik, Flower Power and Hippie movements, bearded with flowers over the long hair and bare feet as a way of expressing this liberating freedom, adding the wide use of denim jeans, sometimes stone washed, stressed and mixed with leather, embroidery and patchwork, combined mostly with large-flowered blouses, scarves and plaid shirts also.

For 2012 trends point towards this freedom style as many designers jump on this wave and include much of this elements on the runaway. Find Moschino, Tommy Hilfiger and many more fashion houses.

Combine flowered blouses, dresses and skirts, use denim jackets over them with long necklaces, shawls rings and headbands create a very personal and fun style that fits you and most of all, feel the freedom in nature, feel the grass and run barefoot. 🙂
